New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available! For more information visit https://alphabetlearning.online What’s included? This download includes x2 A4 pages (landscape orientation) pdf format. What’s it for? This resource has been designed for learners to consolidate their understanding of number bonds to 5, ideal for a quick recap and to check knowledge. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years and Year 1 pupils as well as older students needing additional support with learning. Resource Details This resource has been designed to be a quick match activity - drawing a simple line to connect the pairs of number bonds. The number bonds in this resource have been arranged ‘in order’. Completing this activity relies on learners having the knowledge to match the pairs as counting objects (to check which total five) are not provided in this resource. For learners who need this - objects (mini campers vans and cars?!) could be provided. Page 1 In the upper section learners match the numbers on the camper vans by drawing a line connecting each pair of numbers which (together) make 5. In the lower section learners draw a line to match the car numbers, which (together) make a total of five. Page 2 Answers. This page clearly shows all number bonds matched, displayed in the same layout as page 1 for easy comparison and quick reference. Resource details This PDF has been designed to print and use as practical write-on resource, it could be laminated to enable reuse. Lines can be drawn on the sheet (and wiped off if laminated). Learners could use a ruler to assist with accurate matching. Important message ANY issues please don’t hesitate to let us know - we are happy to make changes.

New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available! For more information visit https://alphabetlearning.online What’s included? This download includes x2 A4 pages, landscape orientation, pdf format. What’s it for? This resource has been designed for learners to consolidate their understanding of number bonds to 10, ideal for a quick recap and to check knowledge. Support is provided as items (letters to post and the lit up storeys of each tower block building) are displayed to count and check - that each time the total of each pair is 10. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years and Year 1 pupils as well as older students needing additional support with learning. Resource Details This resource has been designed to be a ‘quick match’ activity - drawing a simple line to connect the pairs of numbers which (together) make 10. Page 1 In the upper section there is a row of ten tower blocks, each with a (numbered) main door. The number on the main door matches the number of storeys in each tower block that are lit up. In the middle and lower section are two rows of five postal vans, each with letters (to post). The number on each post van is the same as the number of letters. Learners are to match the number on each postal van with the number of a tower block by drawing a line to connect each pair of numbers which make 10. Learners are supported by the visual supports provided - the lit up number of storeys of each tower block (labelled by the numbered main door of each building) and the number of letters to post, labelled with the number displayed on each postal van. Learners can count these items to check which total (together) make 10. There is a space at the base of page 1 (left) for learners to write their name and a space to record the number date (top, right). Suggestion Learners could use a ruler to assist with accurate matching. Although this PDF has been designed to print and use as practical write-on resource, it could be laminated to enable reuse. Lines can be then drawn on the sheet (and wiped off) if laminated. Page 2 Answers. This page clearly shows all number bonds matched, displayed in the same layout as page 1 for easy comparison and quick reference. New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available! For more information visit https://alphabetlearning.online What’s included? This download includes x2 A4, landscape pdf sheets to practise ‘ordering numbers to 10’. What’s it for? This resource has been designed for learners to practise ordering numbers to 10. Learners either order the numbered eggs from 0 - 10 (and back!) ‘flat’ on a table top/carpet, or using the ‘grass holders’ learners can position the eggs to ‘stand up’, perhaps once they have completed the activity and ordered the numbers. This activity has been designed for learners to explore independently, to explore and reinforce both recognising numerals to 10 and ordering numbers to 10 (and back!) Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. How to use this resource These sheets are intended to be printed onto card to improve durability, instructions are included on each resource. This was designed for an adult to pre-cut all items so that this resource can be presented to learners as an activity to investigate and explore. An adult cuts along dotted lines following these instructions to provide learners with x11 ‘numbered eggs’ (page 1) and x10 ‘grass egg holders’ (page 2) Resource Details Page 1 includes x11 numbered eggs (0-10) dotted lines, guide where to cut. Page 2 includes x10 ‘grass numbered egg holders’ for learners (or adults) to display the ‘numbered eggs’ in. Rather than having numbered eggs laid flat on the table top, using these holders enable the numbered eggs to ‘stand up’, helping the resource to catch your learners interest and engage them. Simple instructions for how to assemble these holders are included at the top of page 2. Important message… Any issues please don’t hesitate to let us know - we are happy to make changes.

What’s included? This download includes x3 resources (to be used together) as x4 A4, landscape pdf sheets to practise counting objects to 10 and labelling each group with the correct numeral. This activity set has been designed to use with miniature ‘Easter chicks’ as pictured on the cover image. What’s it for? This resource has been designed to make good use of those lovely little chicks that are generally everywhere at Easter time! This activity set encourages learners to count up to 10 objects (chicks!) and label each group (brood!) with the correct numeral (from 1 - 10). Grass ‘egg holders’ are included to display the egg number labels once learners have sorted and counted each group of chicks (from 1 to 10). Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. How to use this resource This has been designed for an adult to pre-cut items so that this activity set can be presented to learners to investigate and explore independently as a ‘table top’ activity. There is a sheet featuring ‘numbered eggs’ to be cut out and used to ‘label’ the groups of chicks once they have been counted out. Grass ‘egg holders’ to ‘hold’ each numbered egg are also included. There are two pages featuring groups containing different amounts of eggs (between 0 and 10). Learners are to count out the corresponding number of Easter chicks onto each of these cards - placing one chick on one egg, practising using 1:1 correspondence. Resource Details These sheets are all intended to be printed onto card to improve durability. Resource 1 (x1 page) Includes x11 numbered eggs (0-10), dotted lines guide where to cut. Resource 2 (across x2 pages) Includes x11 rectangular boxes (with green outlines), each displaying groups of different numbers of eggs (between 0 and 10). Learners count out the correct number of chicks, placing one chick on each egg. Once all ‘egg cards’ have been completed learners can ‘label’ these groups with the numbered eggs’ (page 1) Resource 3 (x1 page) Includes x10 ‘grass numbered egg holders’ to display the ‘numbered eggs’ in - rather than having all items laid flat on the table top, using these holders enables the numbered eggs to ‘stand up’. Simple instructions for how to assemble these holders are included at the top of this sheet. Important message… Any issues please let us know - we are happy to make changes.

alphabetlearningalphabetlearning

Halving to 12 Investigation Fruit (in order)

(0)
New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available! For more information visit https://alphabetlearning.online What’s included? This download includes one resource - two pages featuring x12 ‘half’ problems (using fruit/veg) to complete - each of the x12 questions involves sharing the total amount (from 1 to 12) into two equal groups - ‘halves’. The learner will discover which numbers between 1 and 12 can and cannot be halved and of those numbers which can be halved equally learners will identify how much ‘half’ is. What’s it for? This resource introduces learners to the concept of what ‘half’ is in a practical, systematic way using numbers under 12. Learners draw a line from each piece of fruit to the plate/s below until all pieces of fruit have been allocated to a plate. Where the number of pieces of fruit on the plates is the same that number can be split in ‘half’ and where the number of pieces of fruit on the plates is not the same - these numbers can not be split in half. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children and pupils in years one as well as older students needing additional support with their learning. Resource layout Learners draw a line from each fruit/veg to each ‘plate’ pictured below to systematically share out the total number of items (fruit/veg) each time until all have been shared (or not!) Where the total number is ‘even’ (and the fruit/veg can be shared out equally) the learner can write the number of fruit/veg on one plate (the ‘half’ amount) on the line underneath at the end of the question (e.g.) Half of 2 is …4. For the even numbers (which can successfully be split equally into half!) the learner can ‘circle’ the green ‘tick’ displayed, for the odd numbers (which cannot be shared equally into half!) the learner can ‘circle’ the red ‘cross’ displayed before moving on to the next question. At the end of the second sheet there are x12 matching questions about each individual number to recap on which of the numbers between 1 and 12 can/cannot be split equally into half. The colour of the box around each question correlates to the colour of the question completed above guiding the learner more clearly (visually) back to each question box above to check their finding if needed. Recommendations Small objects can be placed on top of each fruit/veg (I have successfully used small coloured matchsticks with this resource if these are not deemed a choking hazard for little learner/s). Once the correct number of matchsticks/items have been counted out onto each individual fruit/veg (above the plates) these can then be physically moved (again, as the learner says “One for you, one for me†out loud each time) to one of the plates. Important message… ANY issues with any of this please don’t hesitate to let us know - we are happy to make changes.

2D shapes Game (identifying properties)

New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available! For more information visit https://alphabetlearning.online What’s included? This download includes x2 pages, portrait orientation, x1 page, portrait orientation, all in pdf format. x3 sheets in total What is it? This is a simple game for two players to reinforce 2D shape names and the number of sides each shape has. Who’s it for? This 2D shape name game has been designed for early years and pupils in years one and two as well as students needing additional learning support. How to use it? The game includes two boards on page 2 (one for each player) with a space for each player to write their names on the line above. All that is needed is a die (dice) and a pencil/pen (per player) to ‘tick off’ shapes (once ‘rolled’) OR game counters (included) - to place on top of each shape once ‘rolled’ can be cut out and used. One die is recommended (to ‘share’) to promote turn-taking. Clear game instructions are included on page 1 which players could be encouraged to read themselves before playing the game. What’s needed? One die to share or one dice each and a pencil each/game ‘counters’ - cut up (included). Resource layout The instruction text is size 14 ‘Avenir’ font. Instructions are included on page 1, the game itself (x2 game boards) are included on page 2. Recommendations For younger players having a set of these 2D shapes out while playing this game (to look at, hold and count the sides of) would benefit learners. This PDF has been designed to print and write-on. It could be laminated and a dry-wipe pen used to enable reuse and improve durability. Chunky sized dice are much easier for younger learners to use. Foam dice are great as they are really quiet! A shallow box, e.g. half of an empty cereal box laid flat on its back with front removed (ideally lined with a piece ‘felt’ fabric to absorb sound) to roll the die into could be used to avoid dice rolling away (e.g. off a table top). This should avoid any momentum of the game being interrupted while searching for lost dice! This resource has been designed to break down each step involved in writing these eleven numerals correctly, using green (go!) ‘starting dots’ and red ‘stop dots’ to make it clear to learners exactly where to begin and end writing. Colour coded arrows guide learners on which direction to follow. This resource should help in providing some focused additional support looking at these numerals more closely for those pupils who need a greater level of support and maybe find it harder to remember which direction to follow. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support. Resource details The font used is Sassoon Infant Std - size 150. This activity has been designed to write straight on. The start and stop dots make it clear where learners place their pencil to begin/where to end and dotted lines on top of letters provide guidance of exactly which direction to write. There is a clear space for learners to write their name on the line at the base of the sheet and a clear space to record the number-date at the top of the sheet - helpful to keep sheets and track progress (and improvement!) over time. Important message… ANY issues with this resource please don’t hesitate to let us know - we are happy to make changes. Feedback of this resource would be brilliant. Thank you.

2D shapes for window display

New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available! For more information visit https://alphabetlearning.online What’s included? This pdf download includes x5 landscape orientation sheets featuring x23 2D Shapes with clear step by step instructions to create colourful acetate/cellophane 2D shapes for (window) display. What’s it for? These 2D shapes have been designed to install and sense of awe and wonder - the shapes look beautiful when the sun shines through them and where the colour ‘falls’ depends on the position of the shape in relation to the sun which changes as the sun’s position changes. The set gives an opportunity to showcase the whole set of 2D shapes together as a focus to encourage learners to recognise and name each 2D shape and become familiar with recognising and naming them as well as lots of exposure and so time to count the number of sides/corners and think about the properties of each e.g. which have straight/curved sides (or both!). The 2D shapes can of course be repositioned and displayed as you choose. A ‘2D shapes’ label (to be displayed with the set of shapes) is also included. This resource would also support work on shadows and light/dark. Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students who would appreciate a pop of colour shining through these shapes when the sun comes out! Resource Details There are x5 pages. The first page includes clear instructions and the remaining pages include the set of shapes and 2D Shapes word label. 2D shapes featured in this resource are: arrows (up and down), semi circle, circle, oval, ellipse, crescent, triangle, equilateral triangle, right angled triangle, diamond, rhombus, trapezium, parallelogram, square, rectangle, star, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon. Suggestions We recommend printing and making these letters out of white card - paper would be too flimsy and see-through so not effective. A set of coloured acetate/cellophane sheets is needed to make these - these are quite inexpensive online. We also recommend backing every 2D shape in white card so that the coloured acetate/cellophane is concealed - this looks so much nicer on the window and makes each letter stronger however is twice the work and time and to do this x10 sheets of A4 white card will be needed (instead of x5 sheets). New online service coming soon with FREE downloads (including this resource) available! For more information visit https://alphabetlearning.online What’s included? This download includes two A4, portrait sheets, pdf format. What’s it for? These resources are to practise counting up to x10 items (fruit), writing the total number of each group of fruit then recording ’one more’ OR ‘one less’ for each by either crossing out a piece of fruit (to find one less) or drawing an additional piece of fruit (to find ‘one more’). Who’s it for? This resource has been designed for children in the early years, pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support. How to use this resource? The sheet is organised into five different coloured (fruit) groups, each group has less than 10 objects (fruit) in total. Learners count the number of pieces of fruit in each group in turn then write the total amount of fruit in the box (in the centre). For 'One less fruit’ Once learners have counted and written the total number of pieces of fruit in the centre box, learners can then cross off one of the pieces of fruit for each group to make clear what ‘one less’ is before writing the total in the second box (on the right). For 'One more fruit’ Once learners have counted and written the total number of pieces of fruit in the centre box, learners can then draw ‘one more’ fruit for each group (a small amount of space is available for this) to make clear what ‘one more’ is before writing the total in the second box (on the right). There is a clear space to record the number date at the top right of the sheet and for learners to write their name (lower left).
